Campbell has been a partner at BKF since 1996 and heads its ever expanding media and entertainment department. Specialising in defamation, contempt of court, privacy and IPSO complaints he also assists in providing BKF’s extensive media clients with both pre and post publication advice.
Robert is BKF’s senior partner. He heads the firm’s Trusts, Executries and Wills department. His extensive experience and specialist knowledge has greatly contributed to the firm’s well established reputation in this area.
Brian is a head of our property team and is a respected commercial and residential property lawyer with over 40 years of experience in the profession.
Brian deals with an extensive variety of commercial property clients and transactions with particular emphasis on commercial leasing (acting for both landlords and tenants), investment sales and acquisitions, commercial lending, acquisition and disposal of licensed premises and businesses and the acquisition and disposal of sites for residential and commercial development.
He also deals with residential purchases and sales and miscellaneous property matters for clients.
Alan advises individuals and families on succession planning as well as specialising in charities, third sector and philanthropy.
On succession planning, Alan helps with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, family business work, inheritance tax-related matters, wealth structures, international succession and the full range of lifetime planning and assistance after someone dies. After death work also includes legal rights and challenges to wills by disappointed beneficiaries and others. Alan has been recognised as a ‘Legal Influencer – Private Client (UK)’ at the Lexology Marketing Awards.
On charities, third sector and philanthropy, Alan’s work includes setting up charities, OSCR-related work, variations, reorganisations and mergers of charities, governance, trustee training, grantmaking and grant-giving administration, funding arrangements, gifting, legacies and gifts in will services. In this area, Alan advises individuals, families, charities (of all sizes and types), public sector bodies as well as corporates on CSR and ESG matters. Alan is a member of the Law Society of Scotland’s charity law committee.
In addition to helping BKF’s own clients, Alan is available to assist other solicitors and professionals when external support and opinion is required. This can be arranged on a variety of bases to suit the referring solicitor or professional.

Rory Cowan is a commercial and property litigator with over 18 years of experience. He regularly appears in Sheriff Courts throughout Scotland handling a wide range of commercial and property disputes. Rory represents clients in high value commercial disputes including commercial contract disputes, corporate and partnership cases, professional negligence, insolvency, interdicts, boundary disputes and encroachment cases.
The Corporate/Commercial team at BKF is headed up by David Deane. With over thirty years’ experience in commercial law, David specialises in corporate finance with particular emphasis on M & A work and debt/equity funding raising.
